Size - 32" : The border between the white breast and dark neck is irregular.   Sometimes a white patch or banding is slightly visible on neck.

Common Loons are winter residents.  Seen here in its winter plumage, they ride low to the water and are easily distinguishable from Cormorants or commonloons.
