Size : 15"   Forster's Tern's bill turns orange in the summer with a black tip and his cap turns black.  Seen here in the winter, the bill is black and the cap is white.  There is only a black eye patch that remains.  It is a medium sized tern, larger than the least and smaller than the Royal.

Although common here in Charlotte County, the foresters Tern is not as abundant as the Royal or Sandwich Tern.  It is found on or near the beaches and around the harbor.  Stokes Field Guide does not show it nesting here.
