Size 39" : Large white egret with black legs and a yellow bill.

The Great Egret one of the most common wading birds found here in Charlotte County.  They are not at all wary and will often come to homes on a regular basis to be fed by the owners.  They nest in large rookeries of mixed species.  It can be distinguished from the much more rare white morph of the Great Blue because the Great Blue has greenish legs, a darker bill and the Great Egret lacks a plume on it's head.
