Size 17"  Black head, large dark red or blackish bill.  White outline around top and bottom of the eye.  They loose their black head to mottled white in winter and their bill turns more black.

The Laughing Gull is found here year round.  It is probably the most common gull found on our beaches.  Immature Laughing Gulls lack the black head and are sometimes misidentified for this reason.  They do nest here, but I haven't found them.
