Size 23" : Large Brown mottled duck with bright yellow bill.  Both sexes alike.  They look a lot like a female Mallard or Black Duck, but the bill is yellow as opposed to black or orange.

The Mottled Duck is probably Charlotte County's most common duck.   We usually find it on fresh water, but I have seen it over Lemon Bay on occasion.
