Size : 23" Long thin bill with sharp forehead.  Males have a dark green crested head while the female has less of a crest and more of a reddish brown on the side of the head. 

The Red-breasted Merganser is a winter resident often found in the salt water.  It is a diving duck that feeds on crustaceans, mollusks and small fish.
