Size : 26"
Large dark bird with red featherless head. In flight it holds its wings in
a V shape.
The is not as common as the
Black Vulture in my opinion. Both vultures can be seen along roadsides or
soaring the thermals. The wing beat of the Turkey Vulture is slower and
methodical while the Black Vulture has a shorter tail, light patches sometimes
visible on the wings and often beats its wings in 3 or 4 rapid beats then soars
and does it again.
